About Us

Early Educator Support (EES) Unit

Mission Statement: “The EES Unit provides licensure support and guidance for early childhood educators in nonpublic school programs to obtain an NC Continuing BK License to maintain employment in NC Pre-K classrooms.  Through joint efforts of the EES Unit with the NC Pre-K Program, EES offices at East Carolina University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, NC Department of Public Instruction’s Licensure Division, and Workforce Education Unit, early childhood educators are prepared to provide a nurturing and educational environment for the success of at-risk children in the 21st Century.”

Six-Semester Credit Hour Verification

The SPRING 2021 six-semester credit hour verification process has started. The deadline to submit your unofficial transcript to the Early Educator Support Unit by June 2.   All unofficial transcripts can be submitted to dcdee.eeslpd.bk.licensure@dhhs.nc.gov  or Fax to (919)715-0920 or mail to EES Intake Coordinator, 2201 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-2200.


Lead Teacher Experience Verification Deadline

The deadline to submit Lead Teacher Experience verification is by May 17th.  If you have not submitted your verification form, please do so as soon as possible.

The EES Unit requires Site Administrators and Lead Teachers to access the live video at https://youtu.be/X7PDCDpGDKQ   to review the instructions before completion. Remember, Site Administrators and Lead Teachers should complete the EES BK Lead Teacher Experience Form together. The teacher would then be responsible for contacting their designated licensure specialist for instructions to add prior years of experience and pay the $60 licensure processing fee assessed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI).
