Get Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood
Military families can now get financial support for community child care programs when on-base child care isn’t available.
The Department of Defense and Child Care Aware® of America have launched the Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood-PLUS (MCCYN-PLUS) initiative in North Carolina. It provides financial assistance to help military families access and afford quality child care from community providers when on-base child care isn’t available.
MCCYN-PLUS supports military families in locations with long waitlists as well as those that don’t live near base. Families that use community child care programs could save hundreds of dollars on quality care for their children.
This program leverages the state’s commitment to building a high-quality early care and learning network that helps families raise capable children and build a stronger North Carolina. Child care programs must have a 3-star or higher rated license to participate.
Families can apply through their military service branch to determine if they are eligible and find participating child care providers.
Navy families only: The Navy MCCYN Child Care Fee Assistance Program administers the MCCYN program for Navy families. Navy families can visit the following website for additional information: https://public.militarychildcare.csd.disa.mil/mccu/ui/#/navy.
MCCYN-PLUS is administered by Child Care Aware® of America, a nonprofit organization that works directly with child care agencies to ensure all families have access to quality, affordable child care.
